Day and Night Time Skincare Routine

Welcome to the most isolated place on Internet...

Hello, it's me again.
Elizabeth from Reviews.com emailed me the other day to give their website a shoutout. The website basically provides many information you would need to know from skincare to drinking water. I personally find their resources very useful hence I decided to share this useful information to everyone reading this.

"Good things must share"

As stated on the title, I will be talking about my morning and night time skincare routine. But let me give you a challenge: check if all of your skincare products are the "Best" by using the resources on Reviews.com.

Every morning, without fail, I will wash my face with a cleanser because #oilyface. I will wake up with an oily face every morning. Honestly, my face produces A LOT of oil, so much oil I reckoned that I could fry an egg with it.

The cleanser I am currently using is the Green Tea Cleansing Foam by Innisfree.
Using the guide to find The Best Facial Cleanser, it states that simple alcohol and Big Four sulfates are to be avoided. Luckily, the cleanser that I am using does not contain ingredients that were mentioned.
HOWEVER, the ingredient "Sodium Benzoate", Google states that the combination of sodium benzoate and citric acid forms a cancer-causing chemicalI AM SHOOKED! Guess who is gonna change her cleanser once she finished it? 🙋 So if you find any sodium benzoate in your facial cleanser, it's time to change.

Luckily I found a replacement: HERB DAY Cleansing Foam Lemon by The Face Shop. It does not contain any ingredients to be avoided. I will keep you guys updated when I purchased the cleanser.

I am using two different kinds of toners: Mamonde's Rose Water Toner and Hada Labo's Hyaluronic Super Acid Hydrating Lotion

After patting my face dry, I will spray Mamonde Rose Water Toner (in COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner bottle) and use a cotton pad to wipe my entire face. Then use the Hyaluronic Super Acid Lotion to pat all over my face.

Essence is a basically a serum but lightweight, that gives hydration to the skin.
The COSRX Advance Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, is actually my first essence and first snail product used. I will usually use it at night, and/or on any discoloration, acne marks to give it extra hydration for my skin to repair.

Aloe Vera.
Looking at The Best Face Moisturizer, it states that a moisturizer should include humecant (eg aloe vera). But *spoiler alert* mine doesn't, so I lowkey hope that having this step will compensate the absence of humecants in my moisturizer.

Spot Treatment.
In Korean beauty, spot treatment means targeting to the problems that you are most concern about. ie acne, dark circles, hyper pigmentation.

As for myself, I use the COSRX Centella Blemish Cream for my pimples.

With reference to The Best Acne Treatment, my pimple cream is safe to use!

Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion is the one I am using for both day time and night time. It passed the test except for one (the humecant test) as a day time moisturizer, but as a night time moisturizer, maybe not so much. Because day time moisturizers and night time moisturizers are totally different, with different ingredients in it. (The Best Face Moisturizer)

Occasionally, aka when I feel like it, I will include the COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask in my night time skincare. But it didn't really pass the test as a night time moisturizer too. I guess I really should hunt for one soon.

Sun Protection.
As you can see from the picture above, the sunscreen/sun protection I am currently using is by the brand Biore. I really like this product because it is really lightweight. To me, it feels like water that evaporates into the air.

These are the products that I don't use on a daily basis, ie 1-2 times per week. They are actually different types of exfoliators: chemical exfoliators (COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid; Holika Holika Egg Peeling Gel //gudetama edition//) and clay mask (Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask).

On days where I feel like my face looks dull and needed a little 'brighten up', I will pick one from my exfoliating collection and "pamper" my skin (I guess). I really do enjoy using them especially the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid to remove the blackheads on my nose, the clay mask on my pimples to act as a pimple cream and the egg peeling gel to get soft skin.

I know that was a lot of content, but can you feel my extra effort I put into this particular post?
Anyways, to clear any misunderstanding, I may have said that Reviews.com approached me to mention their website here, but I really do feel that it is very useful *touch my heart*. Also, I am not paid to say any of these so #notspon

By the way, do leave a comment if you slay the challenge I gave you. Have a nice day everyone!

  1. After reading your article I watched the ingredients on my cleanser and there is Sodium Benzoat in it, too. So I will also try the Herb Day Cleansing Foam. Thanks for your lead. For your body care I can recommend the HIPP Babysoft sensitive milk lotion. You can check out the ingredients on myorganicformula.com/products. It really makes skin babysoft. :)

    Best wishes, Emmie
